Tiruchirappalli, March 11 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Tiruchirappalli on Wednesday to attend the third campaign rally of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) at Panchapoor in Tamil Nadu's Tiruchi district. Prior to his speech at the rally, the Prime Minister inaugurated and laid the foundation for an array of significant development projects in Tamil Nadu totaling Rs 5,650 crore.
A notable highlight was the launch of a Rs 3,680-crore natural gas distribution initiative, designed to provide piped cooking gas to nearly nine lakh households. This project will also cater to roughly 200 commercial establishments and feature the establishment of 201 natural gas stations, thereby enhancing energy efficiency and curbing pollution levels.
Additionally, the Prime Minister dedicated a Rs 1,490-crore lubricant blending facility to the nation and inaugurated a significant installation of the Indian Oil Corporation in Manali, Chennai.
Furthermore, he laid the groundwork for a green bypass road near the historic Gangaikonda Cholapuram temple, which aims to bolster road connectivity and boost tourism to this ancient Chola-era site.
In the railway sector, PM Modi flagged off two Amrit Bharat Express trains, along with two express trains and one passenger train service, thereby enhancing connectivity between the southern districts of Tamil Nadu and various regions across the nation.
He also inaugurated 370 km of rural roads developed under the Central government’s rural development program, aimed at improving access to essential services for farmers, students, and patients.
During the foundation-laying ceremony, PM Modi stated that these projects would fortify Tamil Nadu’s infrastructure and create numerous employment opportunities.
“Today, welfare and development initiatives valued at Rs 5,650 crore have been dedicated to the nation. I am pleased to launch projects in the energy, infrastructure, and petroleum sectors. These initiatives will provide job opportunities for nearly 1,000 youth in Tamil Nadu,” the Prime Minister remarked.
Recalling his previous visit to the region, PM Modi referred to the celebrations commemorating the 1,000th anniversary of the Gangaikonda Cholapuram temple and expressed that the new highway project would significantly benefit tourism.
He also highlighted that eight redeveloped railway stations were inaugurated in Madurai last week under the Amrit Bharat scheme and emphasized that the newly launched train services would further enhance connectivity throughout southern Tamil Nadu.
“A developed India necessitates a developed Tamil Nadu. Our aim is to establish a developed Tamil Nadu as a part of a developed India,” PM Modi stated, reaffirming that the Centre would persist in its dedicated efforts for the state's advancement.
Among the dignitaries present at the event were Union Minister L. Murugan, Tamil Nadu Minister Thangam Thennarasu, Leader of the Opposition Edappadi K. Palaniswami, and BJP leader Nainar Nagendran.
