Chennai, July 27 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi graced the historic Gangaikonda Cholapuram Temple in Tamil Nadu's Ariyalur district on Sunday, paying his respects in celebration of the birth anniversary of the Chola emperor Rajendra Chola I. Renowned as one of the most illustrious leaders of the Chola dynasty, Rajendra Chola I is celebrated for extending the empire's influence to regions as distant as Southeast Asia.

The visit by PM Modi stirred immense excitement among the local populace, who extended him a warm welcome, expressing gratitude for his efforts in revitalizing the legacy of the Chola empire. The atmosphere was charged with enthusiastic chants of 'Modi Modi' throughout the streets of Gangaikonda Cholapuram.

One attendee shared, "We gathered here to witness Prime Minister Modi, who has significantly contributed to the development of our district. It fills us with pride to see him participate in the Aadi Thiruvadirai event and to witness him in person."

A member of the BJP remarked, "We traveled from Thiruvidaimaruthur to catch a glimpse of the Prime Minister. The opportunity to see our nation's leader so close is thrilling. It is evident that a shift in governance is imminent in Tamil Nadu."

Another party member from Vandavasi commented, "PM Modi's presence in Gangaikonda Cholapuram has invigorated the community. The public's enthusiastic reception has been truly moving. Modi’s visit is a testament to the greatness of Rajendra Chola, showcasing this rural area on a global stage, filling us all with pride."

A resident from Kumbakonam in Thanjavur district stated, "PM Modi represents the Vishwaguru of the world. His commitment to the people is unparalleled, having made significant contributions across various segments of society, including minorities. Despite attempts by certain negative forces in Tamil Nadu to undermine his reputation, he continues to serve the public diligently."

One individual, carrying a portrait of PM Modi, expressed, "I brought along a photo of the Prime Minister receiving blessings from his mother. Her blessings have empowered him to tirelessly serve the nation. There’s much to learn from his dedication, working from 4 a.m. every day. The country's progress relies not only on his efforts but also on our support for his initiatives."

During his visit, PM Modi offered prayers at the temple amidst Vedic and Saivite Thirumurai chants and toured the temple complex, a recognized UNESCO World Heritage Site, as part of the 'Great Living Chola Temples'.
