After the roadshow, PM Modi is set to inaugurate a significant semiconductor facility in Sanand.
This facility, developed by Micron Semiconductor Technology India Private Limited, marks one of the largest investments in India’s technology manufacturing sector.
Officials announced that the Assembly, Test, Marking, and Packaging (ATMP) facility has been constructed with a total investment of Rs 22,516 crore, aimed at enhancing India's semiconductor value chain.
Once operational, the plant will transform advanced semiconductor wafers into finished memory and storage products, including dynamic random-access memory (DRAM), NAND flash products, and solid-state drives.
These components are critical for various applications, spanning data centers, consumer electronics, and artificial intelligence systems.
Attending the inauguration will also be Union Minister for Electronics and Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw along with senior executives from Micron.
The Prime Minister is expected to address the audience, emphasizing the facility's significance for India’s broader ambitions in technology and manufacturing.
This project was the first to receive approval under India’s Semiconductor Mission, with groundwork commencing in September 2023.
Upon completion, the facility will feature around 500,000 square feet of cleanroom space, making it one of the largest of its kind, capable of serving clients globally.
Currently, approximately 2,000 employees are working at the plant, with projections that direct employment could grow to about 5,000 as operations ramp up.
Company representatives have also highlighted their commitment to inclusive hiring practices, providing opportunities for skilled individuals from various backgrounds.
