The proposal put forth by Chief Minister Gupta received support from Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa, while Gajender Singh Yadav endorsed the second motion introduced by Anil Kumar Sharma.

Immediately after his election, Bisht presided over the Assembly proceedings, culminating a day filled with significant discussions, including the CAG report concerning the AAP government's excise policy.

In his inaugural role as Deputy Speaker, the 67-year-old Bisht declared the Assembly adjourned until 2 p.m. on Friday.

Earlier in the day, Bisht expressed gratitude to the BJP for recognizing a committed leader like himself by appointing him to the esteemed position of Deputy Speaker.

“I am dedicated to adhering to the rule book and ensuring discipline within the Assembly,” Bisht told IANS.

He emphasized that the CAG report regarding the excise policy will be thoroughly examined in the Assembly, holding the corrupt AAP leaders accountable for every misused penny.

The legislator from Mustafabad triumphed over Adeel Ahmad Khan of the AAP by a margin exceeding 17,000 votes in the recently concluded Assembly elections.

Bisht, a prominent figure among Delhi BJP leaders hailing from Uttarakhand, enjoys substantial support in Northeast Delhi. His previous five victories in the Delhi Assembly elections were secured from the Karawal Nagar constituency.

Earlier, Bisht participated in discussions on the CAG report and reminisced about his experiences with former Delhi Chief Ministers Madan Lal Khurana and Sahib Singh Verma, who exhibited zero tolerance towards corruption.

During the proceedings, Bisht even proposed renaming Mustafabad to Shiv Vihar, citing a widespread request from his constituents.
