The Dial-112 team acted swiftly, carefully securing the injured bird and transporting it to the Morena Forest Centre for appropriate treatment and care, where they handed it over to the state Forest Department officials.
The Forest Department is currently administering medical care to the injured peacock. The department expressed gratitude for the timely intervention of the Dial-112 team, which ensured that the national bird received necessary medical attention without delay.
The peacock is protected under Schedule 1 of the Wildlife Act, which grants it the highest level of legal protection in India.
The state's forest department also praised the quick actions of the 'Dial 112' team, emphasizing that the emergency service, launched in 2025, goes beyond mere crime and police emergency assistance; it plays a vital role in wildlife safety and conservation.
The 'Dial 112' service was designed to consolidate multiple emergency numbers, including 'Dial 100' for police and 'Dial 108' for ambulance services, into a single point of contact.
The state government has invested in 12,000 vehicles for the 'Dial 112' service, including models like Mahindra Scorpio-N, Mahindra TUV-300 Plus, and Mahindra Bolero Neo.
