Panna, Jan 30 (NationPress) The fatalities in the incident at the JK cement factory in Madhya Pradesh's Panna have risen to four as of Thursday, with over 30 workers suffering critical injuries, according to police reports.
The accident transpired while labourers were engaged in constructing a ceiling slab for the under-construction facility, which is part of the JK Cement plant.
During construction activities, the entire slab collapsed unexpectedly, leaving numerous workers trapped beneath it.
Superintendent of Police, Sai Krishna S. Thota, confirmed that the incident occurred at the factory situated near Amaanganj town.
Thota mentioned that four bodies have been recovered from the wreckage, and 30 workers have been hospitalized in Panna and Katni.
An injured worker recounted that the roof fell on the labourers, trapping over 50 individuals.
“Nearby workers swiftly alerted the factory management about the situation, prompting the initiation of rescue operations,” said a labourer at the Panna district hospital.
Officials from the JK Cement factory quickly arrived at the scene to commence a rescue mission alongside other labourers.
Simultaneously, the local police were notified about the incident, as revealed by a senior JK Cement employee.
Khajuraho MP and state BJP chief V.D. Sharma stated that directives have been given to the Collector and Superintendent of Police to ensure a rescue operation for the trapped workers.
“I have directed the Panna district administration to extend all possible assistance to those injured at the JK cement factory. Officials have been instructed to launch an inquiry and take action against anyone found at fault,” Sharma added.
