Panna, Jan 30 (NationPress) At least two workers lost their lives and numerous others sustained injuries when a scaffolding at the JK Cement factory in Madhya Pradesh's Panna district collapsed on Thursday.
Reports indicate that the unfortunate event transpired while laborers were engaged in constructing a ceiling slab for a building still under construction.
During the concrete work for the slab, the scaffolding, which was supporting the workers, fell.
At the time of the incident, over 100 laborers were present, with some on top of the structure and many working below.
Officials from the JK cement factory quickly arrived at the scene and initiated a rescue operation alongside the laborers. The local police were also notified of the situation.
Sandeep Trivedi, a senior representative of JK Cement in Panna, informed the media that the incident occurred around 11:30 a.m. To prevent any further incidents, access to the factory premises has been restricted.
"The police team has arrived at the scene, and a rescue operation is in progress. The injured have been transported to a nearby hospital. Many workers are hurt, but the precise count will be determined later," Trivedi remarked.
When inquired about the fatalities, Trivedi stated, "Casualties have been reported, yet the exact figures are still being confirmed. Construction activities have been suspended immediately following the incident."
