Bhopal, Oct 18 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Mohan Yadav, strongly criticized the opposition, labeling Congress leaders as 'Nalayak' (worthless), while addressing a significant assembly of farmers at his residence in Bhopal on Saturday.
Speaking to over 2500 farmers gathered at his residence, the Chief Minister asserted that during Congress's prolonged rule, they did nothing to uplift farmers, and now they are engaging in unnecessary theatrics to mislead the public.
In response to Congress's recent demonstration at Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan's residence in Bhopal, Chief Minister Yadav referred to the opposition as 'Nalayak Congress.'
He remarked, 'Aisa bolne ka man karta hai, lekin bhansan me sudhar kar bolna padta hai' (I feel like saying that, but I must be cautious in my speech).
The Kisan Sammelan aimed to promote the Bhavantar Bhugtan Yojana (Price Difference Scheme) for soybean farmers, which has been reinstated after an eight-year break following demands for minimum support price (MSP) protection.
Madhya Pradesh, recognized as India’s 'soybean bowl', produces nearly 60 percent of the country’s output over 66 lakh hectares. However, farmers have faced plummeting prices due to oversupply and erratic weather, with many receiving less than the MSP of Rs 5,328 per quintal.
Under the scheme, the government will determine an average mandi rate and directly compensate the price difference into farmers’ accounts through DBT (direct benefit transfer).
During this gathering, the Chief Minister also announced various initiatives for farmers, including a 90 percent subsidy on solar pumps for agricultural use.
Significantly, the BJP-led Madhya Pradesh government is facilitating solar energy access for farmers through programs that involve providing solar pumps, solarizing agricultural feeders, and enabling farmers to generate and sell excess solar power.
The government plans to distribute solar pumps to millions of farmers, with many receiving them at substantial subsidies or even free of charge, aiming to lower electricity costs and enhance irrigation.
