During his speech, Chief Minister Yadav commended the Indore Municipal Corporation for their resolution to establish a garden, aptly named 'Ek Bagiya Maa Ke Naam'.
He expressed, 'Heartfelt congratulations to all, including the Indore Municipal Corporation, for the decision to plant saplings during the auspicious month of Shravan.'
This commendable initiative by the Bharatiya Janata Party-led Indore Municipal Corporation involves the allocation of five acres of land in the Keshar Bagh market area of the city.
In attendance were Kailash Vijayvargiya, the state's Urban Development Minister, Pushyamitara Bhargava, the Mayor of Indore, Shankar Lalwani, the local MP, along with various other BJP leaders who also participated in planting saplings.
The 'Ek Bagiya Maa Ke Naam' initiative is part of the state government’s project under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MNREGA), aimed at economically uplifting women from self-help groups (SHGs).
This project intends to plant over 30 lakh fruit-bearing trees on the lands of these women, creating a new source of income for them.
In addition to the saplings, financial support will be provided for tasks like pit digging, barbed wire fencing, and constructing a 50,000-litre water reservoir for irrigation purposes.
To qualify for assistance, the selected woman from an SHG must possess between half an acre to one acre of land.
The beneficiary selection process is currently in progress and is anticipated to conclude by July 15.
Site evaluations, physical verifications, and necessary administrative and technical approvals will be finalized by July 25.
Preparations for pit digging and fencing are expected to be wrapped up by August 14, with the plantation drive scheduled to take place from August 15 to September 15 as a statewide initiative.
