Indore, Jan 17 (NationPress) Madhya Pradesh Urban Development Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya announced on Friday that all 12.40 lakh saplings, planted as part of the initiative 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' in the Revati Range of Indore, are thriving and flourishing.

The minister attributed this success to the dedicated efforts of the Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC), which has been meticulously caring for each sapling planted by the citizens of Indore in a single day.

This campaign involved several days of activities with numerous prominent figures, culminating in the planting of 12.40 lakh saplings at the Revati Range.

He highlighted that additional measures to safeguard these plants, including water facilities, regular gardening, and fencing, are already underway.

Pipes are being installed to ensure consistent water supply for the plants, with completion expected before the summer season.

“The citizens of Indore set a world record by planting 11 lakh saplings in just one day. Today, I assure you that all saplings at Revati Range are safe and thriving. While some leaves may have withered, each plant is secure,” he stated in a video message.

“Inspired by PM Modi, the saplings planted in the city under the 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' initiative are now maturing into trees. The city residents achieved a world record by planting 12.40 lakh saplings in the Revati Range,” Vijayvargiya added in his video message.

Remarkably, the nation’s cleanest and first water-plus city, Indore, established a new world record by planting 11 lakh saplings in a single day during the 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' campaign on July 14, 2024.

Indore has received a Guinness World Record for planting the largest number of saplings by a team within 24 hours. A certificate was awarded to the government of Madhya Pradesh at a ceremony attended by Guinness World Records officials.

In addition to the local residents of Indore, the campaign saw participation from various community members, including politicians, Bollywood stars, and teams of Army and BSF personnel.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav were also part of the campaign, actively planting saplings.
