Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has directed that the state's Foundation Day on 1 November 2026 be celebrated under the theme 'Prosperous Farmer – Prosperous State,' linking the annual commemoration to the broader agenda of agricultural development. The directive came during a high-level review meeting at the Mantralaya in Bhopal on Monday.

Why Agriculture Is the Focus This Year

Yadav noted that 2026 is being observed as the Year of Farmers' Welfare across the state, making it fitting for the Foundation Day programmes to foreground farm-sector progress. Officials have been asked to set up special exhibitions on advanced agriculture, natural farming and agricultural innovations. Farmers, entrepreneurs and youth who have achieved success or introduced innovations in the sector will be formally honoured at the events.

What the State-Level Ceremony Will Feature

The state-level function for the 71st Madhya Pradesh Foundation Day is scheduled at the Lal Parade Ground. Exhibitions at the venue will cover themes including Developed Madhya Pradesh-2047, the One District-One Product initiative, the state's folk heroes, traditional arts, temple architecture, India's Rishi tradition, the Heritage to Development initiative and achievements in agriculture. A special fair featuring indigenous cuisines will also be organised alongside the main programme.

On the evening of 1 November, a grand light music programme will feature performances by renowned artists from across the country, concluding with a fireworks display. All government buildings are to be illuminated on the night of the Foundation Day.

District-Level Celebrations and Inclusion Drive

Yadav emphasised that district-level programmes should be held with full enthusiasm and maximum public participation. Cultural activities and exhibitions highlighting district-specific outstanding work and local products will be organised at all district headquarters. Officials have been instructed to specially invite public representatives, social workers, industrialists, businesspersons, religious leaders, voluntary organisations, freedom fighters, Democracy Fighters, families of martyred soldiers, high-achieving self-help groups and individuals associated with start-ups.

Logistics and Administration

The Chief Minister also issued specific directives covering seating arrangements, traffic management and security measures for the state-level function, signalling that large public attendance is anticipated. Yadav underscored the importance of giving the state's talented individuals a platform: 'The Foundation Day is a festival for the entire state. Opportunities should be provided to the state's talented individuals to showcase their art, skills and capabilities,' he said.

With the Foundation Day still over five weeks away, district administrations are expected to begin preparations immediately under the framework laid out at Monday's meeting.
