Bhopal, Oct 7 (NationPress) The Madhya Pradesh Employees Selection Board, formerly known as Vyapam, is gearing up to commence the written examination aimed at recruiting 7,500 new police constables starting from October 30. This will be succeeded by a physical assessment administered by the state police.

This marks the inaugural police recruitment test organized by the BJP government under Chief Minister Mohan Yadav.

Previously, police recruitment exams in 2023, held during the tenure of former Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, experienced alleged irregularities.

As reported by the Madhya Pradesh Employees Selection Board, an overwhelming 9.76 lakh applications were submitted for only 7,500 constable positions, resulting in approximately 13,000 candidates vying for each job.

The examination will take place online, with centers established across 11 districts in Madhya Pradesh, including Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur, Khandwa, Neemuch, Rewa, Ratlam, Sagar, Satna, Sidhi, and Ujjain.

In 2023, a fraud incident was uncovered in Gwalior, where five candidates from the Morena, Shivpuri, and Sheopur districts were caught using a solver to take the written exam.

Consequently, an FIR was filed, igniting a significant political controversy ahead of the state Assembly elections.

Persistent protests from job seekers regarding these irregularities prompted the state government to suspend the appointments for several months, until an in-depth investigation revealed that some candidates had altered their Aadhaar cards before and after the exam, allowing them to fraudulently appear for the test.

Importantly, the written exams will be conducted in 11 districts, including Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain, and Jabalpur, yet none from the Gwalior-Chambal region, which has gained notoriety due to repeated irregularities in recruitment exams by the Madhya Pradesh Employees Selection Board.

Among the 9.76 lakh applicants, there are 42 PhD scholars and over 12,000 engineers competing for police constable roles, which offer a monthly salary ranging from Rs 19,500 to Rs 62,000.

The online application process initiated on September 15 was originally set to end on September 29. However, due to the influx of applications, the deadline was extended to October 6.

Point of View

It is imperative to acknowledge the significance of transparent recruitment processes in public services. The upcoming police constable exams in Madhya Pradesh not only represent an opportunity for many job aspirants but also a test of the government's commitment to rectifying past irregularities. The scrutiny surrounding this recruitment process must ensure fairness and integrity.
