Bhopal, March 15 (NationPress) The Madhya Pradesh government has officially initiated the wheat procurement process at specified mandis throughout the state starting today. The crop will be bought at the recently established Minimum Support Price (MSP) of Rs 2600 per quintal, which includes an additional support of Rs 175 per quintal.
Madhya Pradesh is renowned for its high-protein wheat varieties, such as Sharbati and Durum, which are sought after both nationally and internationally. As per official reports, approximately 4,000 centers have been established across the state to facilitate this procurement.
Originally set to commence on March 1, the procurement process faced delays due to incomplete harvesting and elevated moisture content in the arriving crop.
The State Food and Civil Supplies Minister Govind Singh Rajput previously mentioned that wheat with excessive moisture would not align with fair average quality standards, resulting in lower prices for farmers.
The procurement will kick off with early arrivals in the Indore, Ujjain, Bhopal, and Narmadapuram regions, followed by other areas. Farmers are encouraged to register for procurement at the designated centers before the March 31 deadline.
The government has dispatched SMS notifications to registered farmers and has provided online registration through a dedicated web portal and mobile application.
Moreover, registration facilities are available at Gram Panchayats, Janpad Panchayats, and Tehsil offices.
