Bhopal, March 17 (NationPress) The wheat procurement process at minimum support price (MSP) for the Rabi Marketing Year 2026-27 in Madhya Pradesh was initially scheduled to commence a day earlier, but it has been postponed and will now kick off on April 1.

The state government, led by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), announced on Tuesday that procurement will start in the divisions of Indore, Ujjain, Bhopal, and Narmadapuram from April 1, while in the divisions of Jabalpur, Gwalior, Rewa, Shahdol, Chambal, and Sagar, the process will begin on April 7.

According to state officials, the wheat procurement will be executed at a rate of Rs 2,625 per quintal, which includes an additional bonus of Rs 40 per quintal for the farmers. The procurement operations will take place on government workdays, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

To date, 1,904,651 farmers have registered for the wheat procurement at MSP for the Rabi Marketing Season 2026-27, significantly up from last year’s 1,544,000 registrations.

This adjustment in the schedule comes after it was noted that several farmers faced challenges in registering for wheat procurement. The Opposition Congress highlighted this issue, calling for an extension of the registration deadline.

Recently, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav led a meeting with top officials to evaluate the procurement process across all districts.

In response to the ongoing procurement, a Cabinet committee has been established to oversee developments. This committee includes key ministers such as Karan Singh Verma (Revenue), Uday Pratap Singh (Transport and School Education), Aidal Singh Kansana (Farmer Welfare and Agriculture Development), Govind Singh Rajput (Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection), and Lakhan Patel (Minister of State for Animal Husbandry and Dairy).

The committee will convene regularly and provide recommendations to the Chief Minister based on guidance from the Centre and the current situation, ensuring a seamless procurement process. This committee will remain active until June 30, 2026.
