Bhopal, April 14 (NationPress) The procurement of wheat at the Minimum Support Price in the remaining regions of Madhya Pradesh is set to commence on April 15. The state government is intensifying efforts to ensure efficient operations and enhanced facilities for farmers at procurement centers.
This procurement initiative, which began on April 9 in the Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain, and Narmadapuram divisions, will now extend to the Jabalpur, Rewa, Shahdol, Gwalior-Chambal, and Sagar divisions, effectively integrating the entire state into the procurement framework.
State Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection Minister Govind Singh Rajput emphasized that the government has implemented extensive measures to aid farmers during the current procurement season.
“Up to now, we have procured 1,252,470 quintals of wheat from 28,199 farmers at the Minimum Support Price, with a total payment of Rs 10.23 crore already deposited directly into the farmers’ bank accounts,” Rajput stated on Tuesday.
He also noted that 235,177 farmers have scheduled appointments to sell over 10.39 million quintals of wheat.
To facilitate this large-scale procurement process, the government has established 3,171 procurement centers statewide.
Officials have been directed to ensure a hassle-free experience for farmers during this procedure.
Highlighting the available facilities, the Minister mentioned that sufficient provisions, including shaded seating, drinking water, and essential tools like weighing machines, stitching units, and quality testing equipment, are in place at all procurement centers.
For the Rabi Marketing Season 2026–27, wheat is being procured at Rs 2,625 per quintal, which consists of the Minimum Support Price of Rs 2,585 along with a Rs 40 bonus per quintal provided by the state government.
Authorities have also guaranteed the availability of gunny bags and effective storage solutions using jute and polypropylene/high-density polyethylene sacks.
Out of the total wheat procured so far, 769,720 quintals have been successfully transported to storage facilities, indicating a steady advancement in the procurement and logistics chain, as stated by Rajput.
This year, the state has recorded an impressive 1.904 million farmers registered, reflecting an increase of 360,000 compared to last year. In the previous season, approximately 7.7 million metric tonnes of wheat were procured.
