MP records India's lowest unemployment rate, CM Mohan Yadav disburses ₹1,835 crore to women
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Madhya Pradesh has recorded the lowest unemployment rate in the country, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav declared on Sunday, 12 July during a public address in Lahar, Bhind district. The visit was anchored by the disbursement of the 38th instalment of the Mukhyamantri Ladli Behna Yojana, transferring ₹1,835 crore directly to the accounts of more than 1.25 crore women across the state via a single-click transfer.
Unemployment and Employment Record
According to recent Periodic Labour Force Survey (PLFS) data, Madhya Pradesh records an unemployment rate of approximately 1.6%, placing it among the top-performing states in India alongside Tripura. CM Yadav cited this figure as evidence of the state's economic momentum. 'I am proud that Madhya Pradesh is the state with the lowest unemployment rate in the country,' he said.
Industrial Push: Cement Plants, Defence Manufacturing
The Chief Minister outlined a pipeline of major industrial investments in the state. These include a ₹2,000 crore cement plant in Guna, a ₹2,500 crore project in Shivpuri, and the manufacturing of a missile with a 1,000 km range within the state. 'No corner of Pakistan will be safe; the target will be locked here, and the missile will fly straight to the mark,' Yadav said, framing the defence project as a contribution to national security.
Welfare Schemes and Agricultural Gains
Beyond the Ladli Behna disbursement, the event saw the distribution of benefits worth approximately ₹332 crore across 56 schemes. Under the ongoing Farmer Welfare Year, additional benefits are promised in the coming days. CM Yadav drew a pointed comparison with the previous Congress government, noting that wheat procurement prices under Congress rule — from Madhya Pradesh's formation in 1956 until 2003 — rose only to ₹350–450 per quintal. His government has raised that figure to ₹2,625 per quintal this year. To boost rural incomes further, the state is encouraging dairy farming alongside crop cultivation, offering a ₹40 lakh scheme for 25-cow units with a ₹10 lakh government subsidy, with the stated ambition of lifting Madhya Pradesh from its current third position to the top spot in national milk production.
UCC, Infrastructure, and Local Announcements
In a significant policy announcement, CM Yadav stated that Madhya Pradesh is set to implement the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) this month, advancing what he described as the principle of 'One Country, One Law.' He said the move has received broad public support, reportedly including from Muslim women, following widespread consultations. On infrastructure, Yadav confirmed the restart of MPRDC bus services this month, noting that roads now reach every village. He also announced the immediate introduction of postgraduate (PG) classes at the local college in Lahar. Looking ahead, he urged citizens to commit to public welfare through the festive period from Raksha Bandhan to Diwali, promising continued development deliveries.
