Odisha BJP's 'Seva Sankalp' campaign kicks off Sept 17 across all booths
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
The Odisha unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will launch a month-long 'Seva Sankalp Abhiyan' campaign from 17 September to 17 October, marking Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 25 years of public service. The initiative will span all organisational districts, mandals, and booths across Odisha, with 13 major programmes planned at the grassroots level.
State-Level Workshop Sets the Stage
A preparatory workshop was held on Wednesday at the state BJP office in Bhubaneswar, attended by State BJP President Manmohan Samal, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, State BJP In-charge Vijaypal Singh Tomar, state government ministers, and senior party office-bearers. The meeting was convened to coordinate the rollout across the state's administrative and party units.
Key Programmes Planned
Odisha Housing and Urban Development Minister Krushna Chandra Mahapatra outlined the campaign's schedule. On the evening of 17 September — PM Modi's birthday — citizens across Odisha will light lamps at their homes and take a pledge for a 'Viksit Bharat'. Blood donation camps and other service activities will run concurrently at the state, district, and block levels.
From 17 September to 7 October, schools across the state will host drawing, speech, and elocution competitions centred on PM Modi's public service record and his vision for a developed India. Top performers will receive certificates of merit. Street plays under the 'Namo Seva Gatha' initiative will be staged at schools, colleges, and panchayats to highlight major welfare schemes.
Between 25 September and 7 October, all Anganwadi centres will hold 'Anganwadi Samman' and 'Matru Sambad' sessions to educate mothers and children on health and nutrition schemes. Local digital creators and influencers will participate in 'Paribartanara Kahani' and 'Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra' segments, sharing real-life beneficiary experiences.
Community Service and Cultural Activities
Under the 'Seva - Mora Yogdana Abhiyan', citizens will undertake 25 key service and beautification tasks in their localities. Block-level camps will run under the 'Seva Setu Abhiyan', while the 'Rangoli Rashtra' initiative will feature large-scale human rangolis at prominent public spaces depicting key welfare initiatives.
Grand Culmination on October 17
The campaign will conclude with the 'Janasevak Mahakumbh' on 17 October, where approximately 1.25 lakh public representatives are expected to sing all six stanzas of Vande Mataram together. The event is positioned as the campaign's centrepiece, intended to project mass participation and BJP's organisational reach ahead of future electoral cycles in the state.
This comes amid the BJP's broader national effort to consolidate its footprint in Odisha, a state it won decisively in the 2024 assembly elections after years in opposition.
