Indore, April 10 (NationPress) Union Minister for Road, Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari announced on Thursday that within the next two years, road connectivity in Madhya Pradesh will resemble that of the United States.

While speaking at an event in Dhar district, he mentioned that current highway initiatives, including green corridors, are projected to be finalized by April 2026.

He inaugurated several highway projects and laid the groundwork for additional developments valued in crores.

According to Union Minister Gadkari, highway projects amounting to approximately Rs 3 lakh crore are set to be completed in Madhya Pradesh over the next year. The development of five greenfield economic corridors is underway with an estimated budget of Rs 33,000 crore.

He revealed that the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways plans to construct a landmark bridge along the banks of the Narmada in Omkareshwar.

A Detailed Project Report for this prestigious project has already been crafted, and construction will commence shortly.

Highlighting the enhancements in road connectivity over the past twenty years in Madhya Pradesh, Union Minister Gadkari remarked, "Previously, when I traveled from Nagpur to Chhindwara for election campaigns, there were no roads to access villages. In the last two decades, Madhya Pradesh has experienced significant advancements in road connectivity across both urban and rural sectors."

Positioned centrally in the country, Madhya Pradesh will soon have the shortest routes connecting it to neighboring states through highways, he noted.

The Union Minister also shared his vision of creating smart villages alongside smart cities, which will foster growth in both rural and urban regions of India.

He emphasized that Indian farmers are not only food and grain producers but are also generating various raw materials that are being effectively recycled and utilized.

During the event attended by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, State Urban Development Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya, PWD Minister Rakesh Singh, and others, Union Minister Gadkari unveiled a comprehensive list of highway initiatives in Madhya Pradesh and urged the state government to expedite the land acquisition process.
