New Delhi/Gwalior, March 31 (NationPress) Union Minister for Communication Jyotiraditya Scindia engaged with Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari in New Delhi on Tuesday.

The two ministers conducted extensive discussions focused on several pivotal initiatives aimed at enhancing road connectivity and infrastructure in the Gwalior–Chambal area and various regions of Madhya Pradesh.

During their meeting, they reviewed the advancement of major projects, including the Gwalior–Agra Expressway (valued at ₹4,822 crore) and the Gwalior Western Bypass (costing ₹1,347 crore), agreeing on subsequent actions.

Moreover, they deliberated on the development of a four-lane route along the Gwalior–Bhind–Etawah National Highway (NH-719).

It's significant to note that a group of saints and local residents from Bhind had earlier voiced their frustrations regarding the sluggish pace of work on this highway and the increasing number of road accidents.

In response, Scindia suggested that the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) should oversee the project instead of the Madhya Pradesh Road Development Corporation (MPRDC).

“Once we receive approval from the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways in April, we will initiate the tendering process immediately, and the NHAI will commence construction work swiftly,” Scindia stated on Tuesday.

Further proposals for the construction and enhancement of various crucial roads were discussed. This includes a proposed 45-km route in the Pichhore area of Shivpuri district, connecting Bhitargawan to Nyagaon through Kamalpur, Mangawali, Padra, Muda, Raghunathpur, Amarpur, Lalan, Khirkit, Tyaga–Khajuri, Dongar, and Kishanganj, and further extending from Khiriya to Nyagaon.

In addition, plans were proposed for upgrading a 47-km road in the Mungaoli region of Ashoknagar district, linking the Ashoknagar–Vidisha route to Mungaoli via Kanjia, Bamuriya, Kherkhedi, Badora, Simroha, and Basakhedi, along with the construction of a 22.5-km road in the Chanderi area starting from Nai Sarai to the Aravali route through Badodara.

Additionally, discussions also included the enhancement of about 42 km of road in the Bamori region of Guna district, specifically concerning the Anandpur–Nihalgarh route widening initiative.

“The execution of these projects will ensure smoother transportation at both rural and regional levels, while also injecting new energy into local economic activities in the Gwalior–Chambal area,” remarked Scindia, who serves as the representative for the Guna Lok Sabha constituency in Madhya Pradesh.
