Saharsa (Bihar), April 8 (NationPress) As the country celebrates a decade of the Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana (PMMY), the remarkable stories of transformation among the underprivileged classes, who are the scheme's intended beneficiaries, have captured widespread attention.
This initiative has laid the groundwork for a new era in grassroots entrepreneurship by offering loans to micro and small enterprises, enabling individuals from lower socioeconomic backgrounds to access funds without the need for collateral, thereby realizing their dreams of self-sufficiency.
Individuals such as tea vendors, beauty salon proprietors, those managing tailoring businesses, mobile repair shops, and mechanic garages have received loans to establish and expand their ventures.
Among the countless success stories from millions of beneficiaries, many transformations over the years reflect the true intent and purpose of the scheme.
In Saharsa district of Bihar, several beneficiaries shared their accounts of significant life changes after obtaining funding through the PMMY.
Dinesh Agarwal, a resident of Saharsa city in Bihar, who previously worked in his brother's private firm, now operates a business specializing in plastic products, sharing his success narrative with IANS.
"Two years ago, I was employed in a hardware business, but after receiving assistance from the Mudra Yojana, I decided to venture into my own business," he stated.
He approached Punjab National Bank, inquired about the Mudra Yojana, and successfully secured the loan with relative ease.
With a loan of Rs 10 lakh under the Mudra Yojana, he established his plastic products business 18 months ago and continues to progress.
He expresses gratitude towards PM Modi for facilitating opportunities for entrepreneurship for individuals like him.
Megha Rani, a resident of Batraha Mohalla in Saharsa city, who manages a surgical store, shared her journey from near financial ruin to a burgeoning business.
In an interview with IANS, she recounted, "In 2020, our family's financial situation was dire. After my husband lost his job, I initiated my own business with a loan of Rs 10 lakh from Punjab National Bank. As my business flourished, the bank increased my loan amount to Rs 20 lakh."
Today, her enterprise is not only generating substantial revenue but also creating employment opportunities for many in her community.
She openly acknowledges that the key driver behind her improved financial situation is none other than the PMMY.
