Maharashtra leads in cyber crime management, and the Mumbai Police possess significant capabilities to combat these offenses,” the Chief Minister declared during the launch of several initiatives by the Mumbai Police.
He further noted that the Mumbai Police successfully saved Rs 12 crore in a single cyber crime case, emphasizing that to address upcoming cyber crime challenges, the police force has initiated numerous programs and established three modern cyber labs essential for crime prevention.
“It is evident that even well-educated individuals are falling victim to scams such as digital arrests. Hence, there is a pressing need to educate the digitally illiterate among the educated populace. Public awareness is crucial,” added the Chief Minister.
He praised the Mumbai Police for their efforts in launching various initiatives aimed at reducing cyber crimes and raising awareness among citizens.
In addition, he congratulated actor Ayushman Khurana and producer Sahit Krishnan for their support of the Mumbai Police in this endeavor.
The Chief Minister expressed that the three new laws introduced by the Union government are genuinely Indian, with the law on crime disclosure and prosecution enhancing crime management.
He also mentioned the rise in crimes against women.
“To mitigate crimes against women and foster trust in the police, women and child support cells have been established in police stations,” he stated.
The Chief Minister highlighted that women-friendly and citizen-centric facilities have been established in all police stations across Mumbai, making them more approachable.
Rather than creating separate women’s police stations, the appointment of women police officers and anmaldars in each station has made police work more focused on women.
He also inaugurated the Utkarsh Auditorium at Azad Maidan and the new building for the Park Site Police Station.
Additionally, he inaugurated women and child support cells in 87 police stations in Mumbai, a CCTV system in 216 police stations and Deputy Commissioner’s offices, the X-handle of the police department, the launch of the Mission Karmayogi information booklet, and the implementation of police training.
