Bhopal, May 23 (NationPress) The lifeless body of a man, known for his extensive criminal history with 23 cases against him, was discovered at a culvert in the village of Bilkisganj, situated 25 km from Bhopal, as reported by police on Friday.
The deceased has been identified as Lalu Arjun Yadav.
Police confirmed that the victim was lured to a meeting by the accused before being killed.
Commissioner of Police Harinarayan Chari Mishra stated, "Yadav had a criminal record and was in the process of being externed from Bhopal."
"Yadav was featured in the rogue's gallery. The murder appears to be connected to a romantic entanglement. His body was recovered from a bridge in Bilkisganj. The primary suspect, Shubham, along with his accomplice, has been apprehended," Mishra added.
Reports suggest that video footage has emerged showing agitated family members confronting police officials. Angered relatives reportedly blocked the road outside the Kamla Nagar police station in protest.
There have been serious accusations against the police for their slow response.
Nevertheless, Nirpua Pandey, the officer in charge of Kamla Nagar police station, refrained from elaborating to IANS, merely indicating that the murder took place on May 20.
According to police sources, Yadav was reportedly kidnapped three to four days prior, within the jurisdiction of the Kamla Nagar police station.
Shubham and two associates have been unaccounted for since Yadav's disappearance.
During the investigation, police obtained Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) footage depicting three individuals carrying a box.
Following a search operation, the suspects were apprehended.
Commissioner Mishra confirmed that Yadav had 23 criminal cases documented at the Kamla Nagar police station, including serious charges such as attempted murder, rioting, arson, vehicle vandalism, obstruction, and more.
