Bhubaneswar, Feb 16 (NationPress) The key suspect in the brutal murder of a young man in Bhubaneswar last month has turned herself in to the authorities at the Mancheswar Police station on Sunday.

The police promptly detained the accused, Rama Naik, hailing from Kedarpalli Slum under the jurisdiction of the Capital police station.

“Following the discovery of crucial evidence during our investigation, we concluded that she (Rama) was implicated in the case and needed to be taken into custody. Given the conspiracy aspect of the murder, we intend to submit a charge sheet after conducting a thorough and detailed inquiry,” stated Pinak Mishra, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) of Bhubaneswar.

DCP Mishra further informed reporters that the city police had begun the process of issuing a Non-Bailable Warrant (NBW) against Rama and will seize her movable and immovable assets.

He noted that the relatives of the victim, Sahadev, have identified Rama as a principal conspirator in their First Information Report (FIR) regarding the case.

Mishra also mentioned that the victim's family had previously approached law enforcement to demand her arrest. He emphasized that the investigation revealed a conspiracy behind Sahadev's murder.

The DCP indicated that up to seven individuals, including Rama, have been apprehended in connection with the case, and further involvement of additional individuals in the conspiracy to murder Sahadev has been uncovered.

It is crucial to note that the assailants on motorcycles brutally killed Sahadev Nayak near the crowded Rasulgarh Square area within the Mancheswar Police jurisdiction on January 8.

Sahadev, a resident of Kedarpalli slum under the Capital Police station area, was returning home after dropping off his young daughter at school in the VSS Nagar neighborhood when he was attacked with sharp instruments.

The police launched their investigation based on a complaint filed by the victim’s wife.

She claimed that certain slum residents involved in the brown sugar trade murdered her husband due to his protests against their illegal drug activities in the area.
