Kohima, March 21 (NationPress) The statewide Mega Job Fair 2026 took place on Saturday at the Integrated Business Hub and Innovation Centre in Dimapur, Nagaland, showcasing an extensive array of job opportunities across various sectors.

This job fair was spearheaded by the Nagaland Skill and Entrepreneurship Development Mission (NSEDM) in partnership with the Investment and Development Authority of Nagaland (IDAN), National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT) in Kohima, along with the Union Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.

The goal was to bridge the gap between job seekers and potential employers from local, national, and global markets.

During the inaugural ceremony of Job Fair 2026, the Advisor to the Chief Minister of Nagaland, Abu Metha, also the Chairman of IDAN, officially launched the NSEDM portal.

Metha delivered greetings on behalf of Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, commending the organizing team led by Under Secretary and NSEDM Project Lead, Meripeni Ngullie.

He emphasized that months of meticulous planning and outreach efforts culminated in this job fair, generating opportunities for countless youth.

The IDAN Chairman applauded participants for their presence, highlighting that taking the initiative to attend is a crucial first step in building a career.

He urged candidates to present themselves authentically during interviews, asserting that being genuine is more valuable than merely trying to impress.

Metha underscored the necessity of ongoing learning, stating that in today's fast-paced world, knowledge is a powerful asset, and technology provides easy access to it.

He encouraged the youth to leverage digital tools for skill enhancement to stay competitive.

The Chairman remarked that while a first job may not be the ultimate dream position, it should be perceived as a vital stepping stone to future achievements.

He stressed that while talent and skills can open doors, it is an individual's character and integrity that ultimately influence long-term success and advancement.

Regarding job prospects, he noted participants were discovering opportunities locally, regionally, nationally, and internationally, including positions in Europe, the Middle East, and other parts of Asia.

Metha reaffirmed the state government's dedication to creating platforms that facilitate youth access to job opportunities.

He encouraged young individuals to strive for excellence and become positive representatives of Nagaland wherever they go.

He called for a shift from past narratives to a focus on success stories and achievements through the youth of the state.

Metha also urged participating companies to take on mentorship roles, guiding young employees in both their professional and personal development.

The job fair began on Saturday morning, featuring sectors such as home support services, manufacturing, hospitality, aviation, construction, industrial trades, healthcare, nursing, technology, innovation, IT, culinary arts, and retail.

Organizers indicated that the initiative aimed to create a platform for job seekers to explore career avenues, connect with recruiters, and gain insights into various industries.

The event attracted numerous companies and institutions, providing opportunities for both skilled and unskilled candidates.

Although the job fair was a single-day event, authorities noted that applicants could register online at any time through the NSEDM portal.

This online system was introduced to offer greater flexibility and convenience, allowing applicants to submit their information, explore job opportunities, and remain informed about recruitment processes after the event.

Over 1,000 applicants registered for the statewide Mega Job Fair 2026.
