Hyderabad, Jan 4 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, N. Chandrababu Naidu, announced that he will soon tackle all concerns regarding the ongoing dispute over the allocation of Krishna River waters.
This declaration came after he was approached by reporters on Sunday, who sought his thoughts on a statement made by Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy during the State Legislative Assembly on Saturday about the Krishna water issue.
Naidu was in Hyderabad to pay his respects to the family of Pinnamaneni Saibaba, who previously served as the president of the NTR Fans Association and was the former chairman of the Differently-abled Corporation for the unified Andhra Pradesh.
During his visit to Saibaba’s residence in Secunderabad, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leader paid homage to him.
As Naidu was exiting Saibaba’s home, reporters inquired about the continuing conflict over the Krishna waters between the two Telugu states. In response, Naidu assured, “I will address all these matters very soon.”
In a debate regarding the Krishna waters in the Telangana Assembly on Saturday, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy alleged that Andhra Pradesh had ceased the Rayalaseema lift irrigation project due to his pressure on Naidu and the Central government.
The Andhra Pradesh administration refuted Reddy’s assertion that the coalition government in Andhra Pradesh halted the Rayalaseema Lift Project to safeguard Telangana's interests.
The government led by the Telugu Desam Party labeled Reddy's comments as “factually inaccurate and misleading.”
The Andhra Pradesh government clarified that there is no basis to Reddy’s claim that the project was discontinued at his behest or out of deference by Chief Minister Naidu.
Reddy had also stated that he informed Naidu he would be willing to discuss any inter-state matters only if Andhra Pradesh ceased the Rayalaseema project, which allegedly diverts three TMC of water daily.
Additionally, the Chief Minister of Telangana proposed to form a fact-finding committee comprising leaders from all parties, including the main opposition Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), to ascertain whether the project has indeed been halted or not.
