New Delhi, Sep 21 (NationPress) The 'Namo Yuva Run' is set to take place nationwide on Sunday, with an expected turnout of over 10 lakh enthusiastic young participants running simultaneously.
This grand event will occur in 75 locations throughout the country.
The Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) revealed on September 7 that this extensive initiative aims to promote fitness and social awareness on a national scale.
This event is part of the celebrations organized by the BJP in honor of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 75th birthday, which was celebrated on September 17.
During a press conference held at the BJP headquarters, BJYM President and MP Tejasvi Surya stated that the run is themed 'Nasha Mukt Bharat' (Drug-Free India).
"In the past decade, under the guidance of PM Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, India has effectively battled the drug menace. This run is not merely about fitness; it's also about empowering our youth against the dangers of addiction, which undermines individuals and poses threats to national security," he explained.
Surya emphasized that each site will host between 10,000 to 15,000 participants, marking it as the largest participatory run in the nation.
Fitness icon and actor Milind Soman, the event's brand ambassador, will also participate in this initiative.
"Since my school days, I've looked up to Milind Soman. He is an epitome of fitness in India and serves as a role model for the youth. However, Prime Minister Modi stands as the greatest inspiration for young Indians," Surya remarked.
The BJYM leader connected the drug issue to broader security challenges, including narco-terrorism, cross-border smuggling, and Naxal financing.
He noted that over the last decade, India has significantly enhanced its enforcement efforts, seizing more than 24 lakh kg of narcotics from 2014 to 2024, compared to just 3.6 lakh kg in the previous ten years.
"In the past year alone, we have seized and destroyed 10 lakh kg of drugs," he stated.
The 'Namo Yuva Run' will be launched on Sunday, uniting millions of young Indians in a coordinated nationwide pledge for fitness, discipline, and a drug-free future.
