Mumbai, Nov 10 (NationPress) As the local and civic body elections unfold, the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), led by Ajit Pawar, has unveiled a roster of 17 party spokespersons to assert its position.
The spokespersons appointed include Anil Patil, Rupali Chakankar, Brijmohan Srivastava, Chetan Tupe, Anand Paranjape, Avinash Adik, Sana Malik, Rajlaxmi Bhosale, Suraj Chavan, Hemlata Patil, Pratibha Shinde, Vikas Pasalkar, Rajiv Sable, Prashant Pawar, Shyam Saner, Sayali Dalvi, and Shashikant Tarange.
This announcement coincides with the opposition's attempts to challenge NCP chief and Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar regarding the controversial Pune land deal connected to his son Parth Pawar.
Interestingly, NCP has appointed Rupali Chakankar, the chairperson of the State Women Commission, as a spokesperson despite facing criticism from the opposition and internal party activist Rupali Patil over her remarks concerning the suicide of a doctor from Satara.
In a decisive move, NCP has removed Rupali Patil from her spokesperson role due to her anti-party remarks and personal accusations directed at Chakankar.
Patil responded, stating, “I am currently out of Pune and unable to comment as I am traveling. The party has appointed new spokespersons today. The names of MLAs Amol Mitkari and Vaishalitai Nagwade, alongside my name, are absent from the list. We are prepared to engage vigorously in the upcoming elections. I will discuss this list with Ajit Pawar and provide further updates soon.”
The NCP has also excluded party legislator Amol Mitkari, known for stirring controversies against the MahaYuti alliance.
Additionally, Vaishali Nagawade from the Daund constituency has been dropped from her position as spokesperson.
Moreover, Suraj Chavan, previously involved in an assault controversy, has been appointed as spokesperson. Chavan resigned from his role in the youth wing after a video surfaced showing him allegedly assaulting Vijaykumar Ghatge in July but was later appointed as the state party general secretary, with the Maharashtra government subsequently including him in the committee for revising the state’s youth policy.
This list comes amid accusations from Mahendra Dalvi, a Shiv Sena legislator from Alibag, who has accused Ajit Pawar of dishonesty regarding the Pune land deal involving his son. In response, the NCP asserted it would adopt a tit-for-tat strategy.
Paranjape commented, “The party assigns responsibilities as needed. With local and civic elections underway, we have announced a list of spokespersons tasked with communicating our ideology to the people of Maharashtra. Those who have been removed will receive new responsibilities within the party organization.”
