Mumbai, Dec 25 (NationPress) To gear up for the forthcoming Municipal Corporation elections in Maharashtra, the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), under the leadership of Ajit Pawar, submitted a roster of 40 star campaigners to the State Election Commission on Thursday.
The compilation, presented by State President Sunil Tatkare, features notable party figures and influential leaders aimed at spearheading the party’s campaign efforts throughout the state.
Leading the list is Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, accompanied by senior members Praful Patel and Sunil Tatkare. Other prominent leaders include Hasan Mushrif, Nawab Malik, Dhananjay Munde, Narhari Zirwal, Aditi Tatkare, and Mushtaq Antulay.
The roster reflects a blend of seasoned leaders and fresh faces, such as Amol Mitkari, Rupali Chakankar, Samir Bhujbal, film personality Sayali Shinde, deputy speaker of the state assembly Anna Bansode, Sana Malik, and Zeeshan Siddique.
Notably absent from the list are veteran politicians like minister Chhagan Bhujbal and former minister Dilip Walse Patil.
The NCP has revealed its star campaigners list amidst ongoing hopes of aligning with the MahaYuti coalition for the upcoming BMC elections. Additionally, the party anticipates a fair share of representation within the MahaYuti alliance for the neighboring Thane Municipal Corporation.
Sources from NCP suggest that if they do not secure adequate seats in the MahaYuti coalition, the party is prepared to contest independently in these two municipal regions.
In Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad, the NCP will have a friendly competition with the BJP. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has already declared that both parties will run independently but engage in a friendly contest to prevent benefiting a third party in these areas.
Tatkare mentioned that discussions regarding the MahaYuti alliance are underway at various levels and hinted that a decision to contest all elections under the MahaYuti banner is forthcoming.
He emphasized that the political climate differs from one municipal corporation to another, explaining that a ruling party naturally seeks a larger share. While the sentiments of party workers are crucial, multiple discussions within the alliance are necessary. NCP remains committed to participating in the civic body elections as part of the MahaYuti.
