Patna, May 3 (NationPress) Following the Central government's declaration of a nationwide caste-based census, political rivalries have surged in Bihar as leaders from both the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and the Grand Alliance compete to assert their influence.
In a pointed political critique, Janata Dal-United (JD-U) MLC and National Spokesperson, Neeraj Kumar, on Friday accused opposition figures of deceiving the public and reframing the narrative regarding Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's legacy.
During a press conference at the Nawada Circuit House, Neeraj Kumar directed his criticism towards Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) Chief Lalu Prasad, Leader of the Opposition Tejashwi Yadav, and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, describing their focus as centered on a "property census" instead of true social justice.
"With PM Modi in charge, a caste census is feasible; with CM Nitish Kumar, it is guaranteed," he stated, aligning with the NDA's perspective.
He emphasized, "Nitish Kumar was one of the first proponents of a caste census back in 1990 when he served as the Union Agriculture Minister. While others remained silent, he championed social justice."
In a fierce critique of the RJD leadership, Kumar charged that Lalu Prasad's commitment to social issues waned following the fodder scam, and now the Opposition's agenda is fixated on personal gain.
"Lalu Yadav, Tejashwi Yadav, and Rahul Gandhi prioritize a property census over a caste census. They are anxious about their assets being revealed in states beyond Bihar," the JD-U leader contended.
This press conference occurred a day after Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary declared that NDA leaders would launch statewide efforts to inform citizens about the caste census and Prime Minister Narendra Modi's crucial role in its initiation.
Neeraj Kumar's visit to Nawada was part of this broader initiative.
The gathering included numerous prominent political figures, such as BJP MLA Aruna Devi and district presidents from all NDA alliance factions.
The political squabble over the caste census has intensified since its announcement by Union Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, with both the NDA and Grand Alliance striving to frame this census as a realization of their historical agendas.
The topic is swiftly becoming a focal point as the Bihar Assembly elections approach, with social justice, representation, and economic equity at the forefront of the political dialogue.
