New Delhi, Dec 12 (NationPress) The historic Neemuch railway station in Madhya Pradesh is quickly evolving into a state-of-the-art transit hub, thanks to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. Originally established in 1880, the station is undergoing a significant redevelopment aimed at harmonizing its rich heritage with modern facilities.
Officials have reported that approximately 90 percent of the redevelopment efforts have been finalized, positioning the station to become one of the most advanced in the region.
Khemraj Meena, the Public Relations Officer of the Ratlam Railway Division, informed IANS that both the building and amenities at Neemuch station have been thoroughly upgraded, with most tasks now complete. He noted that 18 stations in the division are being revitalized under this scheme.
Travelers have also expressed their satisfaction with the upgrades. Radheshyam Prajapat from Nagda remarked that the station has undergone a complete transformation, featuring improved cleanliness, seating, and water facilities.
Another commuter, Krishnapal Singh Rajput from Ratlam, commented on the noticeable enhancements in sanitation and amenities, which have significantly improved the travel experience. Both individuals praised the ongoing development initiatives.
The enhancement of the station complex has incurred a cost of around Rs 3 crore. New benchmarks for cleanliness, aesthetics, and passenger comfort have been implemented. The station now boasts a high-tech waiting area, upgraded restrooms, purified drinking water stations, an expanded circulation area, increased parking facilities, a digital information system, and complimentary Wi-Fi services.
Efforts to install lifts are in progress, with special provisions made for senior citizens and individuals with disabilities. Both platforms have been fitted with enhanced covered shelters, while a similar structure is in development at the goods yard.
In a bid to retain its historic charm, the station grounds now feature the restored old clock tower and a vintage locomotive engine, both serving as key attractions.
A One Station One Product counter and an art gallery are also under development to showcase local culture and promote regional artisans.
The Amrit Bharat Station Scheme aims to modernize railway stations across India and enhance passenger convenience. The rapid transformation of the Neemuch station is viewed as part of the government’s broader vision to establish world-class infrastructure. The upgraded station is already delivering a significantly enhanced travel experience for passengers in the Malwa-Mewar region.
