Key Takeaways
Bhopal, Dec 6 (NationPress) A vibrant organic food bazaar was recently held in the Neemuch district of Madhya Pradesh, attracting a significant number of both food producers and consumers. This event aims to promote natural farming amidst rising health concerns regarding the use of pesticides in conventional produce.
Initiated by the Neemuch Municipal Council, this unique venture is in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision for advancing organic agriculture throughout the nation.
The weekly organic market serves as a venue for farmers to present their organic products, allowing health-conscious shoppers to buy chemical-free and fertiliser-free fruits, vegetables, spices, and more.
The impressive turnout at the 'Organic Bazaar' enhances the prospects for farmers dedicated to organic cultivation while giving consumers the opportunity to choose organic options over conventional crops.
Many customers expressed their excitement about the initiative. Kanwarlal Ahir, a happy shopper, stated, "A variety of organic vegetables and fruits are available here. I have bought organic brinjal and tomatoes. I urge all citizens to adopt organic farming."
Ahir further noted, "In today's world, youths are experiencing heart issues due to consuming chemically treated fruits and vegetables, and the use of chemical fertilisers contributes to these health problems."
Shopkeeper Bhagirath Nagda highlighted his offerings of organic produce, including vegetables, fruits, coriander, and ashwagandha powder, which has received positive feedback.
Dr. Yatin Mehta, Project Director at the Neemuch Agriculture Department, mentioned to IANS, "This initiative is part of the state government's efforts to meet the organic farming objectives set by the Prime Minister. We have welcomed farmers practicing organic methods to showcase their products. Last year, we organized fairs at 10-12 locations and received an enthusiastic response from residents, encouraging us to continue this effort. Farmers have brought a variety of vegetables such as eggplant, tomato, turmeric, coriander, spinach, fenugreek, and even organic wheat and spices," he explained.
The state administration has also urged citizens to support the initiative by purchasing organic products, reinforcing the government's commitment to a "Healthy India - Prosperous India."
