NEET-UG Re-exam 2026: Rajasthan deploys jammers, CCTV across 577 centres for 2.09 lakh candidates
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Rajasthan has put in place sweeping security measures for the re-conduct of the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET-UG) on Sunday, 22 June, with 2.09 lakh candidates registered to appear across 577 examination centres spanning 25 districts. Authorities have installed HD-quality CCTV cameras and signal jammers at every centre to prevent malpractice and ensure a fair examination process.
Security Arrangements on the Ground
Mobile networks are expected to remain disrupted near many centres due to jammer deployment, officials confirmed. A 300-metre no-entry zone has been declared around each venue, while photocopy shops and cyber cafés in the vicinity will remain shut on examination day. Backup power through generators has also been arranged to prevent disruption.
As per National Testing Agency (NTA) guidelines, one duty magistrate and one senior police officer have been deployed at every centre. The district cyber cell and social media monitoring teams have been activated for round-the-clock surveillance of platforms including Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Telegram, WhatsApp, and Snapchat.
Examination Schedule and Special Trains
The examination will be held from 2 pm to 5 pm IST. Candidate entry opens at 11 am and closes strictly at 1:30 pm. To ease travel, Indian Railways has announced seven special trains on routes including Rewari–Bathinda, Barmer–Bhagat Ki Kothi, Bhagat Ki Kothi–Jaipur, Madar–Rewari, Rewari–Jaipur, Jodhpur–Sanganer, and Bikaner–Dhehar Ka Balaji.
District-wise Breakdown
Alwar has set up 27 centres for nearly 10,000 candidates, with CCTV and jammers installed at each. Udaipur has designated 29 centres, overseen by a district-level monitoring committee comprising senior administrative, police, and education officials. Ajmer district has 15 centres — nine in Ajmer city and six in Kishangarh — for 6,231 candidates. Jodhpur will see nearly 15,000 candidates appear at 46 centres, monitored by dedicated administrative and police teams. Sri Ganganagar has 2,256 candidates registered across six centres.
The Special Operations Group (SOG) has activated a helpline number — 9530429258 — for reporting any examination irregularities. Candidates are required to carry their e-admit card and a valid photo identity card for entry.
Why the Re-exam Was Ordered
The original NEET-UG examination was held on 3 May, but allegations of question paper leaks and advance access to examination material emerged from multiple states. Following investigations into the suspected irregularities, the NTA cancelled the examination on 12 May and ordered a re-test. This is the first major national medical entrance re-examination conducted under such circumstances, and it has drawn intense scrutiny over the integrity of India's medical admissions process.
Telegram Restrictions and What Comes Next
As part of efforts to contain the spread of leaked content, restrictions imposed on Telegram in connection with the examination will remain in force until 22 June, while the platform's message-editing feature has reportedly been disabled until 30 June. Authorities have urged candidates to arrive at their centres well before the reporting time and adhere strictly to examination guidelines.
