Hyderabad, Sep 27 (NationPress) The government of Telangana has officially named V. C. Sajjanar as the new Police Commissioner for Hyderabad.

Currently holding the position of Managing Director at the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC), Sajjanar takes over from C. V. Anand, who is set to become the new Chief Secretary of the Home Department.

A member of the 1996 batch of IPS officers, Sajjanar has previously held the role of Police Commissioner for Cyberabad.

During his tenure in Cyberabad, he garnered national attention following the encounter that resulted in the deaths of four individuals accused in the tragic gang-rape and murder of a woman veterinarian in 2019.

These four suspects were killed on December 6, 2019, in Chatanpally, close to Hyderabad, where the remains of the 27-year-old victim, referred to as Disha by investigators, were discovered on November 28.

While many applauded Sajjanar for providing what was termed as “instant justice” for the victim, he faced backlash from human rights organizations, who condemned the actions as “extra-judicial” killings.

In response, the Supreme Court established a three-member inquiry commission to investigate the events surrounding the encounter.

In 2021, Sajjanar transitioned to the Telangana Road Transport Corporation.

Additionally, the state government has shifted 23 IPS officers in a move that coincided with the appointment of Battula Shivadhar Reddy as the new Director General of Police (DGP).

Ravi Gupta, the Special Chief Secretary for Home, has been reassigned to serve as the Executive Vice-Chairman and Director General of the Centre for Good Governance.

Shikha Goel is set to take on the role of Director General of Vigilance & Enforcement while maintaining her current duties as Director of the TG Cyber Security Bureau.

Furthermore, Swati Lakra, currently the Additional Director General of Police for Organisation and Home Guards, will assume full additional responsibility as the Director General of the Special Protection Force.

Charu Sinha, the Additional Director General of Police for CID, will now hold the full additional charge of the Director General of the Anti-Corruption Bureau, succeeding Vijay Kumar, who has been assigned as the Additional Director General of Police for Intelligence.

Dr Anil Kumar, serving as the Additional Director General of Police (Personnel), is being transferred to the role of Additional Director General of Police (Operations) for Greyhounds & OCTOPUS.

Y. Nagi Reddy, currently the Director General of Telangana Disaster Response and Fire Services, is being moved to the position of MD at TSRTC.

Vikram Singh Mann, who serves as the Additional Commissioner of Police for Law & Order in Hyderabad, will become the new Director General of Telangana Disaster Response & Fire Services.
