Kolkata, March 11 (NationPress) The Kolkata Police officers, on Tuesday, initiated a new suo motu case concerning some offensive wall graffiti discovered on the campus of Jadavpur University. This follows a disturbance that occurred on March 1, during which two students were injured and hospitalized after reportedly being struck by the vehicle of West Bengal Education Minister Bratya Basu.

The graffiti addressed contentious topics regarding "Azad Kashmir" and "Free Palestine".

According to sources familiar with the matter, the Progressive Democratic Students' Federation (PDSF), a student organization with ultra-leftist views, has taken responsibility for the graffiti.

Nonetheless, investigators have yet to pinpoint the specific individuals or students accountable for the graffiti on campus.

As a result, the new suo motu case filed by the city police targets "unknown" individuals.

The police have also issued new summons to certain students from the university for questioning.

"We have sent fresh summons to those students who previously disregarded our requests for information," stated a police official who wished to remain anonymous.

Additionally, the investigation seeks to ascertain if the graffiti were intended to maintain an atmosphere of discord on campus.

"In addition to these specific graffiti, other political messages on campus are also being scrutinized by our investigative team," revealed a police insider.

The incident erupted on March 1 when the vehicle of the West Bengal Education Minister was allegedly halted upon entering the campus, leading to a scuffle.

Students were demanding immediate elections for the university's student council.

The protesting students claimed that while Minister Basu attempted to exit the campus amid the demonstrations, his vehicle intentionally collided with two students, resulting in severe injuries that required hospitalization.

During the protests, the Minister sustained minor injuries and felt unwell.

He was taken to S.S.K.M. Medical College and Hospital and was discharged shortly thereafter.
