Gandhinagar, May 5 (NationPress) In preparation for the upcoming elections, the final electoral rolls for Gujarat's 24-Kadi (SC) and 87-Visavadar Assembly constituencies were released on Monday.
The updated lists showcase a net addition of 561 voters across these constituencies. By-elections for Gujarat's 24-Kadi (SC) and 87-Visavadar Assembly seats are expected to take place by the end of July 2025.
These bypolls have been prompted by the unfortunate passing of Kadi MLA Karshanbhai Solanki and the resignation of Visavadar MLA Bhupat Bhayani.
Following the publication of the final electoral rolls, the Election Commission is anticipated to announce the official polling dates in the near future.
According to official data, the 24-Kadi (SC) constituency in the Mehsana district has seen an increase of 376 new voters, including 152 males and 224 females, bringing the total number of registered voters to 2,89,746.
In contrast, Junagadh's 87-Visavadar constituency now reflects 2,61,052 voters, with an increase of 185 voters—24 males, 160 females, and 1 third gender.
This revision was conducted as part of the Special Summary Revision of the Electoral Roll Programme by the Election Commission of India, aimed at including new voters who turned 18 by April 1, 2025, and ensuring the rolls are accurate and up-to-date.
The draft rolls were first published on April 8, 2025, showing 2,89,370 voters in Kadi and 2,60,867 in Visavadar.
Chief Electoral Officer Hareet Shukla mentioned that any person with objections to the decisions made during the revision can file an appeal.
According to Section 24 of the Representation of the People Act, 1950 and Rule 27 of the Registration of Electors Rules, 1960, such appeals are to be submitted to the concerned District Election Officer.
