NHAI Seeks Tenders for Telangana's Northern Regional Ring Road

Hyderabad, Dec 29 (NationPress) The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has called for tenders to build the northern segment of the Regional Ring Road (RRR) in Telangana, with a projected cost of Rs 5,554.02 crore.

This northern stretch of the RRR, connecting Sangareddy to Choutuppal, will be divided into five packages.

The total length of the northern section will be 161.518 km. The completion timeline for this four-lane, access-controlled greenfield expressway is set at two years.

The NHAI has opted for the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) mode for this initiative. The project will also include a maintenance period of five years.

The execution will occur in five distinct packages. Package 1 spans from Girmapur village in Sangareddy to Reddipalle (34.5 km) with an estimated cost of Rs 1,529.19 crore.

Package 2 will connect Reddipalle to Islampur (26 km) for Rs 1,114.8 crore. Package 3 involves the route from Islampur to Pragnapur (23 km) at Rs 1,184.81 crore, Package 4 covers the stretch from Pragnapur to Rayagiri (43 km) costing Rs 1,728.22 crore, and Package 5 connects Rayagiri village to Tangadpalle village (35 km) at Rs 1,547 crore.

The final date for the submission of financial and technical bids is February 14, with the bid opening scheduled for February 17.

Officials have noted that land acquisition for the project is nearly complete, with costs being shared equally between the state and the Centre.

The Centre has allocated Rs 7,104.06 crore for the RRR, anticipated to be a super game-changer for Telangana.

Last month, the Detailed Project Report (DPR) was submitted to the NHAI by the consulting firm.

Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, the Telangana Roads & Buildings Minister, praised the NHAI for initiating the tender process, stating that this day would be recorded in the state's history with golden letters.

He reminisced about his meetings with Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari to urge for the swift launch of the project.

The state minister emphasized that the Outer Ring Road (ORR) has already proven to be a game-changer for Hyderabad and Telangana, and the RRR is set to be a super game-changer.

In June, the Chief Minister appealed to Union Minister Gadkari to designate the southern portion of the RRR as a national highway.

The southern stretch is proposed to run from Choutuppal to Amangal-Shadnagar-Sangareddy, covering a distance of 181.87 km.
