New Delhi, April 15 (NationPress) The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed charges against three individuals, one of whom is a Pakistani handler, in a terror conspiracy linked to the recovery of weapons and ammunition in the Poonch region of Jammu and Kashmir, according to an official announcement on Tuesday.
The individuals named in the charges are Abdul Aziz, Munawar Hussain, and Nazir Hussain, who is also known by several aliases including Nazir Ahmed, Ali Khan, Ali, Naziru, and Shaheen. They face charges under the provisions of criminal conspiracy as outlined in section 61(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Additionally, they have been charged under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, which pertains to fundraising for terrorism and attempting terrorist acts, among other offenses.
Nazir Hussain, who is currently operating from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), is linked to the Jammu and Kashmir Gazanavi Force (JKGF), a banned terrorist organization.
According to NIA investigations, he played a role in encouraging local youth in Kashmir to engage in violent actions as part of a broader conspiracy orchestrated by various prohibited terrorist groups and their affiliates to execute terrorist operations in the area.
Nazir was reportedly disseminating incendiary audio messages and video notes to local sympathizers of these terror organizations, urging them to engage in Jihad and wage war against India.
The NIA's charge sheet indicates that he also supplied these individuals with weapons, ammunition, and hand grenades to facilitate the violent objectives of these terrorist factions, aiming to instill fear among the populace.
This case was initiated by the NIA following a police FIR from October 2024, when a police team in Surankote, Poonch, apprehended Abdul Aziz and discovered two grenades in his possession. His subsequent questioning led to the arrest of Munawar Hussain, from whom a pistol, a magazine, and nine rounds were seized.
The NIA has stated that both accused maintained communication with handler Nazir alias Ali. Investigations have unveiled a conspiracy originating from across the border aimed at undermining Jammu and Kashmir through violent activities and acts of terror.
