NIA Files Charges Against Individual for Aiding Terror Attack on Pilgrims in J&K

New Delhi, Dec 14 (NationPress) The NIA has submitted a charge sheet against an individual accused of providing logistical assistance for a terrorist assault on a bus filled with pilgrims close to Katra in Jammu and Kashmir during June. This tragic event led to the death of eight pilgrims along with the bus driver.

Hakam Khan, also known as Hakim Din, has been charged under several legal statutes, including the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, in the charge sheet presented to the National Investigation Agency special court in Jammu.

The NIA reported that Hakam admitted to his involvement in the conspiracy that facilitated the attack, which was carried out by three terrorists with his crucial logistical support.

His support included providing food and shelter to the terrorists and assisting them in pinpointing the attack location, according to the NIA.

The incident occurred on June 9 when unknown assailants opened fire on the bus as it arrived at Kanda near Jhandi Morh. At that moment, the bus was transporting pilgrims from Shiv Khori, Ransoo to Katra.

The shooting caused the bus driver to lose control after being struck in the head by a bullet. Consequently, the bus rolled into a deep gorge, resulting in numerous fatalities and injuries.

In total, eight pilgrims and the bus driver were killed, while 41 other pilgrims sustained serious injuries in this attack designed to instill fear among the public and those coming to Jammu and Kashmir for pilgrimage.

Following a thorough examination of the evidence, the NIA took over the investigation and arrested Hakam.

Recently, the Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) Police conducted a detailed security review of the Shiv Khori Temple located in the Reasi district.

This security assessment was prompted by the fact that the temple attracts thousands of devotees daily.

On June 9, the pilgrims were heading back after their darshan at the Shiv Khori Temple when terrorists launched an attack on their bus in Teryath village, according to police reports.
