NIA Files Charge Sheet Against Two Hizbul Mujahideen Terror Suspects in Jammu Court

Jammu, 21 (NationPress) The National Investigation Agency (NIA) reported on Saturday that a charge sheet has been filed against two individuals in connection with an arms and explosives seizure case in Jammu and Kashmir linked to the Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) terror organization. The charge sheet was presented to the NIA Special Court in Jammu against Waheed-ul-Zahoor, the driver of the vehicle from which explosives, arms, and ammunition were confiscated, and another suspect, Mubashir Maqbool Mir.
Both individuals named in the charge sheet maintained communication with their Pakistan-based handlers affiliated with HM. The recovery of the explosives and other incriminating items occurred on June 30, 2024, at a 'Naka' (checkpoint) established by security forces in Machipora, Rafiabad, within the Baramulla district.
According to the NIA statement, security personnel instructed the vehicle driven by Waheed to halt, but he attempted to escape and was subsequently apprehended. A search of his vehicle and person resulted in the discovery of the explosives. During the inquiry, Waheed revealed his connections with HM, where he operated as an overground worker (OGW). Further investigations at Waheed’s residence in Mujgund, Srinagar, uncovered additional incriminating evidence. The probe also identified Mir as a conspirator, leading to his arrest as well.
It was disclosed during the investigation that Mir was also providing financial support to the accused. Investigations under case number RC-6/2024/NIA/JMU are ongoing as part of the NIA's efforts to uncover the entire conspiracy and determine the intended destination of the seized arms and materials.
The NIA has been actively investigating cases related to terror funding and activities connected to militancy, including kidnapping, ransom, and murder, directed by terrorist operatives under the instructions of their handlers in Pakistan.
