NIA Conducts Raids Across 16 Locations in Connection to BJP Worker Murder in Karnataka and Tamil Nadu

Bengaluru, Dec 5 (NationPress) The National Investigation Agency (NIA) agents carried out coordinated raids at 16 sites in various regions of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu on Thursday as part of the investigation into the high-profile murder case involving BJP Yuva Morcha member Praveen Kumar Nettaru.

The operations were executed in different areas of Bengaluru, as well as in Kodagu district of Karnataka.

In addition, the NIA raided locations in Ernakulam in Kerala and Chennai in Tamil Nadu.

According to sources, the NIA aimed to collect information regarding six suspects who are currently evading arrest in this murder case. There are suspicions that these individuals may have relocated abroad, from where they continue to orchestrate activities.

It has been confirmed that the identified assailants maintained ongoing communication with local contacts across various cities in South India.

After gathering substantial evidence, the NIA initiated raids on the homes and properties of individuals believed to be in regular contact with the implicated murderers.

Praveen was fatally attacked on July 26, 2022. Investigations revealed that the perpetrators targeted him in retaliation for the death of a youth from a minority community during a road rage incident.

The NIA, while investigating the murder, has submitted a charge sheet against 20 individuals to the Special Court in Bengaluru. So far, 14 suspects have been apprehended, while efforts to locate the six absconding suspects are ongoing. The charge sheet comprises 1,500 pages, including testimonies from 240 witnesses.

This murder triggered a cycle of revenge killings and multiple stabbing incidents across the state.

The BJP state unit, along with former Karnataka BJP President Nalin Kumar Kateel, has provided housing assistance to Nettaru's family.

The BJP government, led by former Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, also offered a job to Nettaru's wife. However, the current Congress government, under Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, failed to renew her contract, leading to public outcry. Following this backlash, the Siddaramaiah administration reinstated Nettaru's wife.
