NIA Executes Raids in Jharkhand's Maoist Regions, Confiscates Equipment and Documents

Bokaro, Jan 4 (NationPress) The National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted comprehensive raids in several villages of Gomia in Bokaro district and Vishnugarh block in Hazaribagh district, Jharkhand, focusing on Maoist operatives.

The operation, which took place on Saturday, led to the confiscation of digital devices, diaries, and other pertinent materials. Individuals believed to be aiding and providing logistical support to Maoists are currently under investigation by the agency. Up to now, no arrests have been reported.

Following specific intelligence about Maoist activities in villages located near the base of Jhumra mountain—an area that delineates the boundary between Bokaro and Hazaribagh—eight NIA teams, supported by local police, executed synchronized searches in villages such as Chatro Chatti, Rajderba, Lodhi, Cheyatand, and Haryidmo. The raids involved thorough searches of numerous homes, with the participation of female police officers in the operation.

Bokaro Superintendent of Police Manoj Swargiary confirmed the raids, noting that NIA teams are actively probing into the operations of Maoist organizations in the district.

This operation follows previous NIA raids conducted in late December in the Madhuban and Khukhara police station areas of Pirtand block in Giridih district. Those earlier raids included extensive interrogations of several individuals.

Three months prior, a significant breakthrough occurred when Ramdayal Mahato, alias Bachchan, a zonal committee member of the CPI (Maoist) with a reward of Rs 10 lakh on his head, surrendered to authorities. His interrogation yielded critical information regarding Maoist networks and operations in the region.

Moreover, last year, police confiscated a laptop belonging to Maoists during an encounter on Lugu hill in Bokaro district. This laptop contained valuable data, leading to multiple important leads that have propelled ongoing investigations.

The NIA's initiatives are focused on dismantling the terror financing networks that support Maoist activities. Drawing from intelligence and evidence gathered from previous raids and encounters, the agency is extending its investigation across various districts in Jharkhand, including Bokaro and Hazaribagh.
