NIA Conducts Raids at Nine Locations in Jharkhand, Discovers Evidence Related to CPI(Maoist) Activities

New Delhi, Jan 5 (NationPress) The National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted thorough searches at nine different locations in Jharkhand’s west Singhbhum district as part of an ongoing investigation into the actions of the outlawed CPI(Maoist).
The operations took place on Saturday, as noted in an official statement from the NIA. This investigation is focused on the recovery of significant amounts of cash, communication equipment, and other incriminating evidence associated with the banned Maoist group.
During the raids, NIA teams targeted properties belonging to suspects and alleged overground workers (OGWs) linked to the CPI(Maoist). The searches resulted in the confiscation of numerous items, such as mobile phones, memory cards, SIM cards, and additional materials that are believed to aid the group’s illegal activities.
This case, registered as RC-02/2024/NIA/RNC, originated from the discovery of a 20-litre plastic container filled with Rs 10,50,000 in cash, a walkie-talkie, a Samsung tablet, a power bank, a radio set, receipt documents for levy collections, gelatin sticks, and other incriminating materials. These items were found buried in forested areas between the villages of Husipi and Rajabhasa in Jharkhand, following information provided by Rajesh Deogam, a suspect in the case.
The initial case was filed back in March 2024 at the Tonto Police Station in Chaibasa district against five accused individuals.
The NIA took over the investigation in July 2024, exposing a network of suspects and OGWs allegedly involved in providing logistical support to CPI(Maoist) members, including senior leaders, to facilitate their illegal operations.
The searches on Saturday were aimed at locations associated with these suspects and OGWs as part of the ongoing investigation. The evidence recovered is anticipated to bolster the case against those accused of aiding the outlawed group.
NIA officials stated their commitment to dismantling networks that support CPI(Maoist) activities in the region.
Further investigations are ongoing to identify additional individuals involved in these criminal enterprises.
