New Delhi, Dec 9 (NationPress) The National Investigation Agency (NIA) carried out a search on Tuesday at the rented residence of a significant suspect in the Rohtak region of Haryana, linked to a case involving the CPI (Maoist) terrorist group and its efforts to regain influence in the Northern Region Bureau (NRB).
The raid at Naresh's home resulted in the confiscation of two mobile phones and various handwritten notes.
According to the NIA's press release, Naresh has been identified as a former member of Chhatra Ekta Manch (CEM) and a close associate of the accused, Priyanshu Kashyap, in case RC-01/2023/NIA/LKW.
As part of the CPI (Maoist) strategy, Priyanshu Kashyap was known to frequently visit this location, where he held meetings with the organization’s underground operatives.
The agency stated, “The terror organization is actively working to restore its presence across multiple regions of the country, particularly in the NRB, which includes Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, and Himachal Pradesh.
The NIA confirmed that inquiries into this case are ongoing.
Last month, the NIA also filed charges against another individual in connection with the efforts of the banned CPI (Maoist) terror group to regain influence in the northern states.
The individual arrested, Vishal Singh alias Suraj, hailing from Mathura (UP), has been chargesheeted under section 121A of the IPC and sections 18, 20, 38 & 39 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.
He is the second individual to face charges in case RC-01/2023/NIA-LKW.
In February, the NIA had already chargesheeted Ajay Singhal alias Aman in connection with the coordinated efforts of leaders, members, and sympathizers/Over Ground Workers (OGWs) of the CPI (Maoist) to rejuvenate the organization in the NRB states of UP, Uttarakhand, Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, and Himachal Pradesh.
Investigations by the NIA revealed that CPI (Maoist) member Vishal Singh spent 10 days in the Chhakarbandha/Pachrukhiya forest area to train the organization's cadre on drone operations.
He also organized meetings with senior CPI (Maoist) leaders Pramod Mishra alias Sohan Da and Sandeep Yadav alias Rupesh Ji, a Central Committee member of the Bihar Jharkhand Special Area Committee (BJSAC) of CPI (Maoist).
