Srinagar, Sep 30 (NationPress) The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Tuesday took significant action by attaching the immovable property of a notorious terror associate in the Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir.
According to officials, this step was executed under the provisions of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) amidst an ongoing inquiry into terror financing and support frameworks.
The individual identified as Tariq Ahmad Mir, hailing from Maldeera village in Shopian, had his residence formally attached through a legal process, with notices affixed on the premises by NIA personnel alongside local police.
“He was ascertained to be an active supporter aiding terrorists in the area. The property was attached following evidence demonstrating his involvement in facilitating unlawful acts. Such assets will no longer be permitted to shelter terrorists or aid their logistics,” revealed sources from the NIA.
“This operation is part of a broader initiative by the central agency to dismantle the financial and logistical networks that promote militancy in Jammu and Kashmir. Over the past year, the NIA has seized numerous properties belonging to alleged overground workers and individuals implicated in facilitating militant operations,” added the sources.
In addition to the actions of the NIA and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) aimed at uncovering and blocking various financial avenues for terrorists, the J&K Police and security forces have been conducting extensive operations against terrorists, their overground workers (OGWs), and sympathizers.
These targeted operations are part of a revised strategy by security forces to dismantle the entire terror ecosystem in Jammu and Kashmir, rather than exclusively focusing on neutralizing armed terrorists.
The J&K Police and security forces conduct anti-terror operations in the hinterland, while the Army secures the 740-km-long Line of Control (LoC), and the Border Security Force (BSF) safeguards the 240-km-long International Border (IB) within the union territory.
The LoC runs through the Baramulla, Kupwara, and Bandipora districts in the Valley, extending into Poonch, Rajouri, and parts of Jammu district in the Jammu division.
The International Border is located in the Jammu, Samba, and Kathua districts of the Jammu division.
