New Delhi, April 21 (NationPress) - Delhi Police have apprehended two drug traffickers, one of whom is a Nigerian national, in the Sarojini Nagar locality, as per officials on Monday. They reported that 59.88 grams of a narcotic substance, specifically cocaine, was seized from them.
The Nigerian drug trafficker has been identified as 29-year-old Chimezie Fabian Chidolue, also known as Fabian, who resided in Vasant Kunj Enclave, South Delhi. His Indian accomplice is 25-year-old Ankit Kumar, from Kusumpur Pahari, Vasant Vihar.
The Delhi Police have been actively conducting a special operation targeting drug traffickers and suppliers in the South-West district.
A media statement from the Delhi Police indicated, "A team led by Sub Inspector Anoop Kumar, with members including SI Pramod, ASI Lalit Parshad, Head Constable Amajeet, HC Sukhpal, and others, was organized under the direction of the SHO/Sarojini Nagar and overall supervision of Ranbir Singh, ACP Safdarjung Enclave/South-West District, to identify and arrest criminals, particularly focusing on disrupting the narcotics supply chain. The team also conducts patrols and random checks during late hours to monitor illicit activities.
On April 14, during routine night checks near the Leela Hotel roundabout, the team observed a white Swift Dzire car approaching the checkpoint.
When signaled to halt, the driver exhibited suspicious behavior and attempted to escape, but was promptly detained by the vigilant officers.
A search of the vehicle uncovered 25 polythene packets resembling garlic pods hidden in the front door panel. Field tests confirmed the contents as cocaine, weighing 34 grams, according to officials.
The driver was identified as Ankit Kumar. Consequently, a case was registered under FIR No. 143/25, u/s 21(b) NDPS Act, at PS Sarojini Nagar. The illegal substance was confiscated, and the vehicle involved in the crime was also secured by police through a seizure memo.
During thorough questioning, Ankit Kumar admitted to receiving the cocaine from the Nigerian national Fabian, under directives from a supplier named Rehman alias Raymond, suspected to be the mastermind.
On April 15, Fabian was intercepted at the Mahipalpur Flyover, and 19 polythene packets of cocaine, weighing 25.88 grams, were retrieved from his possession. He was arrested, and the contraband was sealed.
The police reported that Ankit Kumar delivered contraband based on instructions received via WhatsApp. He functioned as a driver/courier, introduced into the supply chain by Fabian, who received commands from Rehman. The cocaine was packaged in knot-form, a common concealment method utilized by African syndicates in metropolitan areas. Fabian confessed to being involved in multiple deliveries of contraband to local distributors, receiving instructions from Rehman using foreign-registered WhatsApp numbers.
The police noted that this case represents a major disruption of a foreign-linked narcotics supply chain, significantly affecting mid-level operations in the capital. Ongoing investigations into the sources and supply chains of drug suppliers are underway, according to a media release from Surendra Choudhary, DCP, South West district.
