Delhi Police Break Up Nigerian Drug Network, Two Arrested

New Delhi, Dec 31 (NationPress) In a crucial move toward realizing the vision of a Drug-Free Delhi by 2027, established by the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, the Delhi Police have amplified their assault on narcotics. During a recent operation, the Special Staff of the South East District successfully dismantled a narco-syndicate engaged in the distribution of illegal heroin across Delhi-NCR, as stated by the police on Tuesday.
The operation led to the apprehension of two suspects -- Amans Osaretin, also known as Fred, and Thompson Apiti, alias Emeka -- alongside the recovery of 442 grams of premium quality heroin. The Delhi Police reiterated its unwavering stance against narcotics trafficking and its commitment to creating a safer, drug-free environment.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Ravi Kumar remarked, “Based on credible intelligence from Sub-Inspector Praveen Kumar of the Special Staff, a dedicated team was formed under the guidance of ACP Operations Dalip Kumar. This unit, led by Inspector Rajender Singh Dagar and assisted by Sub-Inspectors Shubham Chaudhary, Phool Singh, Vinod Kumar, Rajbir Singh, along with other personnel, executed the operation on December 26.
The arrests occurred near Gate No. 1, Siddhartha Enclave, Ashram Ring Road, Delhi. Acting on a tip-off, the team intercepted Amans Osaretin next to his Skoda car. A detailed search revealed 442 grams of heroin hidden within a Real Juice Tetra pack, concealed in his jacket.
Following the arrest, a case was filed under sections 21/61/85 of the NDPS Act at PS Sunlight Colony. During questioning, Amans disclosed that he had obtained the narcotics from his associate, Thompson Apiti, at Janakpuri Metro Station. He intended to deliver the drugs to either Jasola or Ashram Metro Station.
Utilizing this information and technical surveillance, the team successfully tracked down and arrested Thompson Apiti in Dalip Vihar, Chander Vihar, Nilothi Extension, Delhi. Two mobile devices employed for drug transactions were also seized, DCP added.
The suspects revealed the existence of an extensive network spanning multiple states, preying on vulnerable communities for both wholesale and retail drug distribution. Their operations included intricate supply chains for the procurement and distribution of heroin across Delhi-NCR.
This successful operation underscores the relentless dedication of the Delhi Police to combat drug trafficking and their commitment to ensuring a safer, drug-free future for the city.
