Mumbai, March 29 (NationPress) Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Nirupam on Saturday claimed that stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra’s satirical performances are part of an international scheme aimed at discrediting India, the Supreme Court, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and senior Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde.
Nirupam alleged that Kamra has illicitly acquired Rs 4 crore in foreign donations for this agenda, mentioning that one of Kamra’s benefactors is the Ford Foundation, a US-based entity previously accused of financing anti-India factions.
While addressing the media, Nirupam stated, “Kamra’s YouTube programs have been utilized to malign India, the Supreme Court, Prime Minister Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde. These productions have reportedly been supported by foreign funding. Kamra has amassed over Rs 4 crore from countries including Canada, Australia, the United States, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar. A large portion of this financing is believed to come from donors of a specific community, raising questions about whether religious leaders have issued a fatwa endorsing Kamra’s funding.”
“Kamra’s parody song Hum Honge Kangal has damaged India’s international standing. Organizations opposing India in Canada are suspected of contributing to his funding, and Nirupam has called for an inquiry. According to Section 3 of the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA), election candidates, journalists, columnists, cartoonists, editors, media broadcasting companies, and YouTubers are restricted from receiving foreign funding. Kamra’s acceptance of such funds constitutes a breach of FEMA, and charges of sedition should be pressed against him,” asserted the Shiv Sena leader.
Nirupam claimed that Kamra is currently in hiding in Tamil Nadu due to fear and cautioned that no one can evade the law. He further alleged that Kamra has support from the Ubhata group, as affirmed by Shiv Sena-UBT MP Sanjay Raut’s recent statements.
Nirupam emphasized that authorities must probe which agencies are financing Kamra. He accused Kamra of receiving funds from anti-India and anti-national groups to tarnish Eknath Shinde’s image and disrupt social harmony. He stressed that no individual has the right to defame constitutional officials under the guise of free speech.
Nirupam also disclosed that Kamra’s show is produced by a woman named Shetty, whose organization has benefited from financial backing by the Ford Foundation. He asserted that the Ford Foundation is linked to George Soros and has played a role in destabilizing governments globally. Nirupam noted that even former US President Donald Trump had contemplated taking measures against the foundation.
In another note, Nirupam has called for an immediate prohibition on the public sale of meat during the Navratri festival from Gudi Padwa to Ram Navami.
“The Hindu New Year commences on Sunday, March 30, 2025. Shiv Sena demands an immediate halt to the public sale of meat during the Navratri festival, from Gudi Padwa to Ram Navami. In Andheri alone, there are over 250 shawarma vendors. Navratri is a matter of Hindu faith, and the public sale of chicken, mutton, and kebabs on sidewalks and in markets is offensive to Hindu sentiments. Therefore, the party is calling for a complete ban on the public sale of meat during this period. Shiv Sena workers will submit a formal request to the police today,” he added.
