Bhagalpur, Feb 27 (NationPress) As rumors intensify regarding Nitish Kumar’s son, Nishant, possibly embarking on a political journey before Bihar's forthcoming Assembly elections, JD-U leader Gopal Mandal asserted that only Nishant can genuinely steer the party towards increased success.
In a conversation with IANS, Mandal voiced unwavering support for Nishant, highlighting that his leadership would be crucial for the party's future.
“Nishant is the son of our Chief Minister. He is well-educated, speaks Hindi, and is undoubtedly a capable individual. There is no doubt he is the right candidate to take charge when Nitish Kumar steps back from his leadership role,” Mandal elaborated.
Mandal continued, “JD-U requires Nishant’s guidance. Should he enter politics, he can fortify the party and foster unity among all leaders and supporters. His participation would undoubtedly infuse the party with renewed vigor and direction.”
He also noted that Nitish Kumar might not be in favor of his son entering politics, but emphasized the importance of such a move for the party’s long-term prosperity.
Nevertheless, the uncertainty surrounding Nishant's political aspirations remains unresolved.
When asked about his potential political entry, Nishant remained reticent, only replying with “just leave it (arrey chhodiye).”
Nitish's son has maintained a low profile over the years, lacking any formal roles within JD-U.
The speculation regarding his political involvement gained momentum with JD-U posters appearing across the state showcasing his image alongside the slogan: "Bihar Kare Pukar, Aaye Nishant Kumar."
The release of these posters has only intensified speculation, with the Assembly elections in Bihar scheduled for later this year, in October or November.
It has been suggested that Nishant Kumar will officially join JD-U following Holi and may contest in the Assembly elections later this year.
In a media interaction on February 25, Nishant Kumar encouraged the youth and citizens of all age groups to vote for Nitish Kumar.
"My father has dedicated himself to development. Previously, you granted him 43 seats, enabling him to continue his developmental initiatives. This time, provide more seats so he can persist with his work," he stated.
Nishant Kumar is also advocating for the people of Bihar to support Nitish Kumar in the impending Assembly elections and assist the NDA (National Democratic Alliance) in reclaiming power.
