Patna, Jan 27 (NationPress) Former Member of Parliament (MP) Anand Mohan expressed on Monday that he would gladly welcome Nitish Kumar’s son, Nishant Kumar, into the political arena.

"If Nishant Kumar is interested in entering politics, I would embrace his decision. It is essential for the new generation of leaders to emerge. This is a positive development," he remarked.

Speculation surrounding Nishant Kumar’s potential political entry has grown following his recent visit to Bakhtiyarpur, his family's ancestral home, with his father on January 8.

During a ceremony honoring the legacy of Nitish Kumar’s late father and other freedom fighters, Nishant called upon the public to lend their support to his father and the Janata Dal (United) (JD-U) party.

He encouraged voters to help ensure that Nitish Kumar secures the Chief Minister position once more. Although Nitish Kumar has historically opposed dynastic politics, criticizing parties like the RJD and LJP for favoring family interests over good governance, reports indicate that Nishant's entrance into politics might be forthcoming.

A senior JD-U official, speaking anonymously, suggested that Nishant is poised to begin his political journey, with some party members also hinting at his impending involvement.

For several years, there has been ongoing speculation regarding the possibility of Nishant Kumar, the sole son of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, stepping into politics.

While the JD-U leadership and Nitish himself have previously rebuffed suggestions to name Nishant as his successor, the current quietness among senior party figures implies a change in perspective.

Insider reports within the party are drawing parallels with other political dynasties. A prominent JD-U member remarked that Lalu Prasad Yadav appointed his son, Tejashwi Yadav, as his successor in 2014, while Ram Vilas Paswan elevated his son, Chirag Paswan, into a leadership position.

"Both of these decisions had a considerable impact on their parties' directions. Should Nishant choose to enter politics, he would naturally be seen as Nitish Kumar's successor," the leader stated.
