Patna, April 7 (NationPress) Congress spokesperson Jyoti Kumar Singh on Monday accused Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar of endorsing the Waqf (Amendment) Bill after succumbing to what he described as a 'BJP conspiracy'.
In a statement to IANS, Singh remarked, "The BJP has secured Nitish Kumar's approval on the Waqf Bill as part of a larger conspiracy. Even when Nitish Kumar makes unfounded statements, the BJP remains silent. This silence reflects their intention to replicate the strategy they used in Maharashtra. Just as they ousted Shinde and installed a BJP Chief Minister, they aspire to do the same in Bihar."
He contrasted this with the stance of Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, asserting, "He aims to enlighten the public about these issues and encourage their involvement in every sector's mainstream."
Singh also emphasized Rahul Gandhi's trip to Bihar on Monday, which forms part of his ongoing initiative under the 'Palayan Roko, Naukri Do' padyatra.
The Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition is visiting Begusarai to address concerns surrounding unemployment and migration affecting the region.
"With the Bihar assembly elections approaching, Rahul Gandhi's visits will persist. He is advocating for the economically disadvantaged segments of society, aiming to raise awareness about their deprivations," Singh noted.
The Congress party has announced that Gandhi will land at Patna airport at 9:50 a.m. and leave for Begusarai by 10:10 a.m. After participating in the padyatra, he is scheduled to return to Patna by 1:00 p.m.
Following this, the Congress MP will take part in the Samvidhan Suraksha Sammelan at Sri Krishna Memorial Hall in Patna, after which he will convene a meeting with party leaders at Sadakat Ashram. He is expected to depart for Delhi in the evening, with a scheduled exit at 4:10 p.m.
During his visit to Bihar, Gandhi is anticipated to engage with local community members, listening to their concerns and discussing urgent issues, especially those affecting the youth.
This visit is part of the Congress party's strategy for the forthcoming Bihar assembly elections, where they plan to join forces with a broader opposition coalition.
On Sunday, Rahul Gandhi shared a social media message encouraging Bihar's youth to participate in the padyatra.
"Dear youth of Bihar, I am coming to Begusarai on April 7, to walk alongside you in the 'Palayan Roko, Naukari Do' yatra. Its mission is to raise global awareness about the feelings and struggles of Bihar's youth," he stated in the post.
He further urged participants to don white T-shirts and actively challenge the government, saying, "Pressurize the government for your rights. Join the white T-shirt movement by registering here."
